First African-European Conference on Chemometrics
Date: 20-24 September 2010
The conference Afrodata, the African European conference in chemometrics, was held at the Mining School of Rabat (Morocco), from 20th to 24th of September 2010. This was the first edition of this type. The aim of the conference was to promote chemometrics in Africa and foster collaborations between scientists and users of chemometrics in Africa, Europe and, more generally, across the globe.
The success of this event certainly exceeded our expectations thanks to the wonderful atmosphere of the North-African town of Rabat, the generous hospitality of our Moroccan hosts and the effective participation of the attendees. The focus of the conference was ‘Data Modelling in Biological Sciences and Industrial Processing’. This covered two fields where chemometrics is rapidly expanding: process analytical technology (PAT) in industrial production plants, and bio-chemometrics in system biology research laboratories. Both fields were covered by up to date research findings from the participants. The atmosphere of the conference was relaxed and friendly and the scientific contributions were excellent. The organizing committee was chaired by Prof. Aziz Lazraq from the Mining School of Rabat and the Moroccan hospitality left upon us an everlasting impression.
